THERMAL PAPER-Since 1984

about thermal roll

Thermal paper rolls have become the most popular receipt paper used in the POS and retail industry for restaurants, coffee shops, shopping malls, and other business utilities. As time passes, some business owners realize the benefits of custom-printed thermal paper rolls because it’s a cost-effective business marketing tool. Customized ads like logos, promotion codes, new products, and printed receipt paper rolls deliver messages to customers more effectively. In the following, I will list some points on advertising on thermal paper rolls.

How to Print on Thermal Rolls

The custom printed thermal paper is accomplished by the technology of flexography. The printed image is transferred to the paper directly through a printing plate. Here is a picture of the manufacturing process.

The printing plate is wound on the cylinder. In the printing plate, the image or printing area is raised above the non-image areas. So, the raised part is easily printed on thermal paper. In this case, one printing plate is for one color printing.

Design of the Printing Plate

The length of the printing plate is according to the cylinder. We have a couple of cylinders to meet customer requirements. When we design the plate, we can put as many ads as possible.

1)Thermal Paper Back Print

Actually, there’s not much restriction on back print. 1–5 colors are OK. Normally, we just print advertisements on the back side of thermal paper.  The thermal front side needs to be printed with sales transaction information. There’s not much space to print full-color advertisements freely.

2)Thermal Paper Front Print

As you know, the thermal front side is for merchants to print transaction information. To draw attention from customers, the front side can also be printed with advertisements. To print clearly and attract attention at the same time, there are 3 tricks for you.

a. Print on 2 sides of front side

b. Print as watermark or very light color, not to effect the print

c. Adjust POS system to leave space for permanent printing and sales transaction content separately
